Insurance Guidelines

Our office will be happy to file your insurance as a courtesy to you. In our practice, we accept over 100 insurance plans. Many employers offer a variety of health benefits to their employees and orthodontic coverage is usually one of them. All insurance coverage must be verified prior to the initial consultation. This allows us to more accurately estimate your out-of-pocket costs at your exam. We are happy to work with you and your insurance company to enable you to receive the maximum benefit possible. We realize that understanding orthodontic insurance can be difficult and we welcome any questions that you might have.

HOW DOES ORTHODONTIC INSURANCE WORK?

There are many different agreements between insurance carriers and their subscribers, which may include different deductibles, lifetime maximums and/or percentages of coverage. Each insured individual usually has a lifetime maximum benefit for orthodontic services. This benefit is paid as a percentage of the orthodontic fee until the maximum has been reached. Most plans pay the covered amount over the length of treatment rather than initially paying the entire benefit.

HOW WILL OUR OFFICE ASSIST YOU WITH YOUR INSURANCE?

Upon scheduling your FREE consultation you will be asked for your insurance information so that we may verify your benefits prior to your appointment. This will enable us to understand your policy and explain your benefit to you. It is important that NTOA and you know the following:

  • What type of plan you have (i.e. HMO, PPO, Traditional)
  • If referral is needed
  • Age limitation, if any
  • Waiting period, if any
  • How your benefit is calculated
  • Your lifetime maximum
  • Your deductible
  • Are the claims paid monthly or quarterly

If you have any questions please contact us & we will be happy to assist you.
